Perio Therapy
Toxic bacteria in plaque can cause periodontal disease, also known as gum disease or gingivitis ― an infection of the supportive tissues of the mouth. This disease can cause tooth loss, breakdown of the soft tissues in the mouth and other significant problems. Santa Fe Dental evaluates your periodontal health and, if needed, help you make a decision on the appropriate treatments to restore the health of your gums and supportive tissues.
Nightguard
Gritting and clenching your teeth at night can put a serious strain on structures of your teeth. It can cause your teeth to chip, crack, or even break, and the next day you may experience pain in your jaw and headaches. A custom-crafted nightguard can help eliminate these issues. Also, if you have had your smile made over with veneers, crowns, or bridges, we may have you wear a nightguard to protect your smile.
Root Canal
When the nerve tissue of a tooth has been severely damaged, you may have to have a root canal. Despite what you may have heard, most root canals are not painful. A root canal involves removing the soft tissue within the tooth, or the pulp, and then filling the space with an inert material. The procedure is then finished off with a filling, or in most cases, a crown. Santa Fe Dental utilizes the latest in dental technology to make your root canal more effective and to take less time.
Tooth Extraction
Every effort is made to keep all your teeth, as it is always the best and preferred solution. In the instance that a tooth cannot be saved, it may be recommended to extract the tooth. This extraction can be done here in our office instead of referred to a specialist in the area.
Third Molar Tooth Extraction (Wisdom Teeth)
Most third molars (wisdom teeth) can be removed here in our office. Should the surgery become more complex, we may decide it is in your best interest to have it extracted in one of our recommended specialists’ offices.
Fillings
When decay is removed from a tooth, it has to be replaced with a filling. This fills in the cleaned out portion of the tooth and prevents further corrosion. Traditional fillings are made of amalgam (silver). However, advancements in dental technology mean you can now have tooth-colored fillings.
NTI
NTI is a system designed to eliminate tension and stress to your teeth by preventing you from grinding your teeth together. This device, worn primarily at night, is small and fits snugly between your two upper front and two lower teeth. The end result is reduced headaches, minimal wear on your teeth, and protection from chipping and breaking due to grinding.
